Welcome to my kitchen!
Hi, I’m Jake, a 39-year-old home cook based in rural Pennsylvania. I’m not a professional chef, never went to culinary school or worked in a fancy kitchen, but food has always been my way of connecting with others and taking care of myself. These days, I focus on paleo cooking because it just makes sense for the life I live and the people I love.
My love for cooking started in my teens, spending weekends at my grandparents’ farm. My grandmother, Evelyn, had a way of turning the simplest ingredients into something unforgettable. Her stews, roasted chickens, and garden vegetables weren’t just meals ; they were little acts of love that stayed with me long after I left the table. When I started cooking for my own family, I found myself drawn to those same principles: real ingredients, bold flavors, and food that brings people together.
A few years ago, my wife and I were looking for a way to eat cleaner and feel better ; not because we were sick, but because we were tired of feeling sluggish and disconnected from what we were putting on our plates. We tried a 30-day paleo challenge and never really looked back. I started diving into cookbooks, experimenting in the kitchen, and slowly building a way of eating that felt natural, energizing, and most of all, sustainable.
Now I cook meals that are grain-free, full of whole ingredients, and easy enough to fit into a busy week. I’ve got two kids, a job that keeps me on my feet, and not a lot of time to waste, so my food has to work hard. Whether it’s a lemon herb roasted chicken with root vegetables or quick lettuce-wrap tacos with avocado lime sauce, I want it to taste great, fuel our bodies, and keep us moving.
I share what works for me, including the fails and surprises along the way. I’m not into strict rules or food guilt—just honest meals made with care. My approach is practical, a little rustic, and rooted in love: love for good food, for my family, and for this way of living that’s given me more energy and focus than I’ve had in years.
If you’re looking for recipes that fit your paleo goals, feed your crew, and don’t require a culinary degree to pull off—welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
